Excause Private School
EXAUCE Private School received a loan from MEDIC Benin to improve the training conditions of the pupils. This school is located in a village at Porto-Novo (Republic of Benin).
The vision of MEDIC Benin in this area is to help the promoters to train the children in a better condition which included the grant of loan to these schools to get some lands, buildings, furniture particularly table and desks, equipment, etc.
MEDIC Benin started granting loans to this school in 2008.They are now at their third cycle:
1st cycle: The school received 500.000 FCFA ( 1,175.00 CAD) for a period of 9 months. The repayment rate was 100 % and without delay. They used this first loan to buy some furniture (table and desk) for the pupils.
2nd cycle: The school received 1.000.000 FCFA (2,350.00 CAD) for a period of 12 months. The repayment rate was also 100 % and without delay. They used their loan to buy more furniture and to start the building of a classroom.
3rd cycle: The school received 1.500.000 FCFA (3,525.00 CAD) for a period of 12 months. The repayment rate was also 100% and without delay. Once again they used their loan to buy more furniture and to start the building of another classroom
As impact of the loan granted for this school, which had its classroom built with straw, now has many classrooms built with cement. Because of the changes it has attracted more families to send their children to this school. Before the renovations the school had 22 pupils and now it has 122 pupils in attendance.
The increase in student enrollment allowed the school to hire more qualified teachers thus improving training conditions and the overall school performance.
With the success of the private school loan to EXAUCE there was an increase of micro business income for women who are selling foods for the pupils and selling school supplies to the school.
